On the night itself, we enjoyed ourself and had a great time too. A toast to everyone and cheerz! Party the whole night through…

1ST DEC 2006

And on the 1st of December, we went down for technical site visit. We had about 10 buses to couch everyone to the Prime Minister’s Office at Putrajaya and Multimedia University [MMU] at Cyberjaya. No trip to Malaysia will be complete without visiting those two places in Malaysia.

And to end the day, we went over to the mamak stall for the famous teh tarik. =) Teh tarik, literally means ‘pull tea’ is prepared using out-stretched hands to pour piping hot tea from a mug to a glass. Preparing teh tarik include both art and science. The higher the pull, the thicker the froth. The way of steaming tea back and forth the containers is a feast for the eyes. The reason of stretching the tea helps it to mix well with another essential ingredient, the condense milk. This will bring out the strong aroma and the subtle taste of tea. You can easily taste those teh tarik at all mamak stalls and restaurants. Well, it’s comparable to cappuccino as one would say with its frothy top.

2ND DECEMBER 2006

Let’s head down to Malacca for a day trip *big big grinz* =D
Many believe Malacca to be the impetus towards the development of what would eventually become Malaysia. It was here that history was written and a long line of Sultans began, continuing even to the present day. Thus, one would say…by visiting Malacca, you’re visiting Malaysia.

Still usable? Look at those infront of the canon. *wow…real thing.*

Fuiyoo…just look how antique this place is… *staring at the sky* [picture below]

Phototaking session at infront of the bright red Dutch reformed church, Christ Church. It was built in 1753 to replace St. Paul's as the principal place of worship. The pink bricks were brought from Holland and plastered with local red laterite. The ceiling beams were cut from a single tree and have no joints. The handmade pews are originals dating back over 200 years. Above the altar in the central apse is a frieze of the “Last Supper” in glazed tiles. The brass Bible rest dates back to 1773. The British turned it into an Anglican church and added a weathercock and bell tower, but it still has its old Dutch tombstones laid on the floor.

well, we visited a few tourist spots in Malacca. Back to our Malaysia history….Malacca got it’s name through a popular legend when the prince was out hunting one day. While resting under a tree, one of his dogs cornered a mouse-deer or ‘pelanduk’. The mouse deer in its defence attacked the dog and forced it into the river water. Parameswara was so taken up by the courage of the mouse-deer that he decided on the spot to found a city on the ground he was sitting on. Thus, Malacca was born. Many claimed that the prince took this name from the 'Malacca' tree that was shading him.

Since Mega sales around the corner, we girls are doing some shopping spree…Trying to get something from Malaysia…So, “Berapa harga? Boleh kurang sikit?”

See how excited the girls are when they talk about shopping.hahaha…

And let’s off to the next destination after lunch. Everyone is so full…Nice food!!!

Nyonya food is an interesting amalgamation of Chinese and Malay dishes thought to have originated from the Straits Chinese of Malacca over 400 years ago. Malacca Nyonyas prepare food that is generally sweeter, richer in coconut milk, and with the addition of more Malay spices like coriander and cumin.
And here are some delicious food prepared by Ole Sayang Restaurant. *Drooling*

Yay, let’s go for a trishaw ride….

On the day itself we too, tried some of the famous chicken rice ball at the famous chicken rice shop. It’s a old cornered shop situated at jonker. It’s usually crowded during lunch time and we were so lucky to get a place there for lunch or should I say brunch. The rice are serve in the form of small rice balls. One can dip the rice ball in a variety of sauces or eat them as it is. They really taste good. It is said that rice served in ball form is far more aromatic, especially at the instant when you bite into it.

While the rest were having fun in Malacca, some were having conference and meeting at Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.

And here’a photo of our G&S President and Secretary, Engr. Yau Chau Fong and Engr. Wong Chee Fui smiling away . So, did you guys miss the fun that we had in Malacca?
