Food for thoughts:Scientific Progress

Posted by : Lee Mei Ping, MMU Melaka

Scientific development has been a great process as we step into the 21st century. Our world is getting more advanced each day with inventions which are invented to fulfil our needs.

As a result, technology is constantly being used and upgraded to increase the production of machines and appliances. More and more machines are invented to lighten our burden.
Today, with rapid development in information technology, workers can sit down and just operate machine without sweating at all.

As science gradually advances to a greater degree as today, it often casts a spell upon us. This is because the effects of scientific development are various. With the invention of printers and scanning machines, men do not need to do writing. All reports can be printed out through printer.

Thus, remember... do not let computers and machine take over the job! =)

Deepavali Open House at Mahendran's Residence

What's it about?

In conjunction with the Deepavali celebration, I held a open house for the G&S members.

When was it?

21st October 2006 (Saturday)

Photo: G&S members in their "festive-cheer" pose

Where was it?

My home (or rather parents' house) at 28, Jalan BK 2/2, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor.

What happened?

With everyone in a festive mood, this was an opportunity for the members to come together & also be exposed to the Deepavali celebrations. Amazingly, since this was the first Deepavali open house for the members, they were treated to traditional Indian delicacies such as muruku, idli & thosai as well as briyani rice, mutton curry & kurma curry.

Last but not least....

I would like thank all the G&S members who attended my open house & hope to hold it again next year.

An Evening with the young veterinarians...

A dinner at Souled Out Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas, 30th Sept 2006
prepared by yoke mei
Group picture of the engineers and student reps with the vets
The first ever activity attended by engineers...a dinner with other professions, veterinary which is a rare opportunity for g&s members to mingle around with the young vets.
We had a great dinner there and got to know the working background of the vets rather than just knowing engineering field only.
The Young vets that attended the dinner are Clair, Susan, Tan and others. They are very friendly and suprise to know that there are students joining IEM!!

Night view of the Souled Out Cafe

It's definitely a good place for dinner. After the dinner, we got to watch the performance performed by the dancers (sort of a indian dance). We left there around 11pm reluctantly...

Looking forward to another dinner with other professions....the best with students around :)
