IEM G&S YES National Summit 2010 was held in Universiti Malaysia Perlis from 4 to 6 July 2010. The participanta are all from IEM YES branches in Malaysia consists 29 young engineers from IEM YES Main Branch, Kedah/Perlis Branch, Penang Branch, Perak Branch, Southern Branch, Sarawak Branch, Miri Branch and Sabah Branch.
The arrival of delegates from all branches were welcomed by Perlis Branch Committees
The main objective of this event was to gather all young engineers’ leaders to share their experience and report the annual activities which had done over the year. IEM YES Kedah/Perlis took the challenge to organizer this event led by IEM YES Kedah/Perlis chairman Engr. Hizaruddin Razak.
On the first day, there was an inter-branch meeting until 12.00pm. Among issues have been raised were membership drive in respective branch and issues from graduate and students members. In this meeting, all IEM YES branches agreed to establish at least one university student session in respective branch area. This effort by IEM YES hopefully can help in IEM membership drive and brings IEM into all universities in Malaysia. At the end of meeting, all delegates had agreed with “Kangar Resolution” as a young engineer’s declaration to IEM.
For second day of IEM YES National Summit 2010, a sharing session in engineering industry by Dato' Ridza Abdoh bin Hj. Salleh, ex-Managing Director of UEM Buiders Berhad and ENgr. Jais Basiran, Director of Building UEM Builders Berhad.
In the evening, all delegates visited new campus of University Malaysia Perlis. After that, a social visit to Taman Ular Perlis and Rimba Herba has been organized. All participants were introduce a herb species in Rimba Herba and had opportunity to relax with herb oil foot massage reflexology.
Coincidently it was the birthday of our branchmate, so we decided to give him a birthday surprise.
On last day of National Summit 2010, a technical visit to Timah Tasoh Dam has been organized. Timah Tasoh Dam project was one of the proposed water storage reservoir schemes in the State of Perlis, located on Sungai Korok about 2.5 km below the confluence of Sungai Timah and Sungai Tasoh. It is approximately 17 km North of Kangar en-route Kangar-Besar Road. A technical briefing had been done by Department of Irigation and Drainage, Perlis.
