A mega trend is considered a global, sustained and macroeconomic force of development that will impact business, economy, society and culture; and thus will define how mankind will lead their lives in the future. One of the biggest mega trends happening in the world today is the clean and green trend, which has become a predominant feature in global enterprise today. Clean and green technologies are the new alternatives to conventional technologies, as green technologies are designed to maintain or improve upon current levels of efficiency and productivity, while being kind to the environment. At present, green products and processes are being developed at a rapid pace, thanks to continued governmental initiatives and corporate investments. The range of green technologies is extremely wide, encompassing industry sectors such as energy, transportation, water and waste management, building construction, manufacturing, agriculture, IT, and many more. However, green energy remains the largest market for green technology, and covers renewable energies such as solar, wind, geothermal, wave and bio-fuels.
This talk will give provide a definition of clean and green technology, the history of the green movement, and a technology overview of the main clean and green technology streams. The presentation is expected to benefit participants who wish to know more about green technologies (essentially to find out what the fuss is all about); the economics and potential outlook for green technologies, and the green trends that will transform the economies, societies and cultures of the future.
